Privacy Policy
1. Age
Children under 18 years of age are not eligible to use our services without direct
parental supervision, and we ask that minors (under 18 years of age) do not submit
any personal information to us.
2. Information
Any information we request is to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and personalised
experience while using our services. This allows us to provide services and features
that most likely meet your needs, and to customise our service to make your experience
easier and quicker.
To fully use our services, you will need to register using our online registration
form, where you will be asked to provide us with contact and other personal information.
We may also use IP addresses to analyse trends, usage patterns, and broad demographic
information. We use this information for internal analysis to better understand
and serve our users. This information is compiled and analysed on an aggregated
basis.
We use cookies on certain pages to help us provide information which is targeted
to your interests. Cookies are stored on your hard drive, not on our site. Most
cookies are "session cookies", meaning that they are automatically deleted at the
end of a session. The other type of cookie we use is a "persistent" cookie. This
stays on your hard disk and we use this to automatically identify who you are. We
use this cookie so that you do not need to log in manually every time you visit
the site if you are a registered user. You are always free to decline cookies if
your browser permits, although in that case you may not be able to use certain site
features. We have no access to or control over cookies used by other websites or
advertisers.
From time-to-time our site may request information from you via surveys, contests
or for a particular service (e.g. newsletter). Participation in these surveys or
contests and consequent provision of required personal information is voluntary.
We will use contact information to notify winners where appropriate. We will not
publish any personal information on myDiveOnline.com, though on request we may
provide details of any winners' name and organisation to relevant sponsors when
appropriate.
In order to process payments online, we require the billing address for the credit
card used, and our external payment provider(s) require your credit card details.
3. Use of information.
We may use personal information to improve our marketing and promotional efforts,
to statistically analyse site usage, to improve our content and product offerings
and to customise our site's content, layout, and services. These uses allow us to
improve our site and better tailor it to meet user needs.
We may use your e-mail address to send you newsletters or other relevant communications.
Out of respect for our users we offer an opt-out (see point 4).
We may use information about your current and past activities on the website to
resolve any disputes, troubleshoot problems and enforce our Terms & Conditions
of Service. At times, we may look across multiple users to identify problems or
resolve disputes, and in particular on rare occasions we may evaluate your information
to look for users using multiple User IDs or aliases.
To take online payments for our subscriptions and online shop, we require the billing
address of the credit card you use so that we can pass this to our external payment
processor(s) who check the address against the cardholder's details for security
purposes. We store these billing details on our servers in case we need to contact
you in the future regarding payments. Our payment processors employ SSL (secure
sockets layer) protocols for security.
We do not have any access to your credit card. In the case of a suspected fraudulent
transaction, card details may be disclosed to myDiveOnline.com by external payment
processor(s) for the sole purpose of performing further checks and verification.
We will not store, transmit or otherwise use any such information.
4. Opt-Out
If at any stage you no longer wish to receive e-mails from us, you can contact us
via the Contact Us section of the website, and let us know what you wish to discontinue
receiving emails from myDiveOnline.com.
5. Disclosure of information
We do not sell, rent or otherwise provide personal information to any third party.
When required to do so by law enforcement, government or other duly authorised legal
or sovereign entities, we may be forced to disclose information in compliance with
directives from such authorities.
We may use aggregated information about user preferences and statistics for marketing
or promotional purposes. In such situations, we do not disclose individual information.
Throughout the website, you are identified by your User ID, which is thereby disclosed
to other users and third parties. Your User ID can be used to identify you and your
activities throughout the website. Other people can see your status, your postings,
etc. Please be aware that if you post personal information online that is accessible
to the public, you risk receiving unsolicited messages from other parties in return.
myDiveOnline.com cannot be held liable for any such communications.
myDiveOnline.com cooperates with law enforcement inquiries and other third parties
to enforce laws, intellectual property and other rights. Local, and international
law enforcement agents can request and may receive your personal information in
such circumstances.
From time-to-time we use third-party Suppliers and Service Providers to facilitate
our services. Where any Service Provider collects information directly from you,
you will be notified of the involvement of the Supplier or Service Provider, and
all information disclosures will be strictly optional.
6. Review and rating boards and discussion forums
If you choose to post reviews or messages in our forums or leave a message or comment in other
areas of the site, such information will be stored on our servers.
Where you make such comments or forum posts, your User ID will also be given on
the site allowing other users to click on it to find out more about you.
Please also see our Terms & Conditions of Services for additional information
about posting to our forums and general usage of myDiveOnline.com.
7. Password and profile
Except as specifically permitted by this section, you may not disclose your myDiveOnline.com
password to any third parties. If you lose control of your password, you may lose
control over your personal information and may be subject to legally binding actions
taken on your behalf. If your password has been compromised for any reason, you
should immediately change your password by visiting the User Menu on our website.
If you wish to change your password or other profile information you can do so at
any time through the User Menu.
8. Other information collectors
Except as otherwise expressly discussed in this Privacy Policy, this document only
addresses the use and disclosure of information we collect from you. To the extent
that you disclose your information to other parties, whether they are other members
of the website or other sites throughout the Internet, different rules may apply
to their use or disclosure of the personal information you disclose to them.
9. Security
In order to process and protect your credit card details, our payment provider(s)
use SSL (secure sockets layer) encryption. The secure server for processing payments
is not hosted by myDiveOnline.com or related parties.
We do not use encryption (such as SSL) or firewalls because we do not believe that,
apart from the credit card information, the personal information we currently collect
warrants such measures and the accompanying loss of speed experienced. You should
be aware that "perfect security" does not exist.
10. Availability
This Privacy Policy and any substantial modifications made from time-to-time thereto
will be available at all times on the website.
